3 From Dossier to Defensible SWOT
Module 3 – From Dossier to Defensible SWOT
Why this module matters
Raw data is not yet insight. To persuade decision-makers, you must condense pages of research into a concise, evidence-backed SWOT analysis—and be ready to defend every bullet. This lesson shows you how to extract, rank, and polish the strongest points from your ChatGPT dossier, so they slide straight into your deck.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this module you will be able to…
-
Extract draft SWOT items from a research thread with one structured prompt.
-
Score each item for Impact and Likelihood on a 1–5 scale.
-
Rank and prune the list so only high-value insights remain.
-
Sanity-check threats by proposing brief mitigations.
-
Format the final bullets for instant slide import.
1 Pull candidate bullets with a single prompt
Tell ChatGPT to list up to eight Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats.
Add requirements:
-
One-sentence description
-
Supporting statistic in parentheses
-
Inline citation tag
-
Impact and Likelihood ratings (1–5)
2 Score, rank, and cut
-
Multiply Impact × Likelihood to find each item’s priority.
-
Sort each quadrant from highest to lowest.
-
Discard anything with either score below 3—the deck has no room for low-value points.
3 Sanity-check the threats
Ask: “Provide one eight-word mitigation for every remaining Threat.”
If ChatGPT struggles, the Threat is probably vague—drop or reword it.
4 Curate the top four per quadrant
Interview decks rarely need more than four bullets in any section. Keep the highest-ranked four; move the rest to Speaker Notes for reference.
5 Slide-ready formatting
Request: “Rewrite each selected bullet as ****Bold takeaway — supporting stat (citation)**.”**
Separate each bullet with a dash (—).
Now the list can be pasted straight into Gamma, already meeting the “max six bullets” rule from Module 1.
